Login Problems?

First, apologies if you’re having problems logging in! This page should help, but please feel free to contact me if you’d like me to reset your passwords for you.

(Passwords, plural? Yep. Keep reading…)

Writers’ Huddle: the site and the forums

The Writers’ Huddle site as a whole is separate from the forums. Think of Writers’ Huddle as a big circle, with the forums as a smaller circle within that:

Normally, once you’ve logged into a Writers’ Huddle page, the site will automatically log you into the forums. If this doesn’t happen, it’s usually because you’ve either changed your main Huddle password and not your forum password, or vice versa.

If you’re having problems, here’s what to do, step by step:

Step 1: When you first visit a Writers’ Huddle page, you’ll be prompted to login. You’ll see this screen:

login-to-huddle

Put in your email address and password. If you’ve forgotten your password, just click the link.

I recommend checking the “Remember me” box so you don’t have to log in every single time you visit Writers’ Huddle.

Step 2: You’re logged into Writers’ Huddle as a whole, but (if your passwords don’t match), you won’t be automatically logged into the forums. When you visit the forums, you’ll probably see a screen like this:

If that happens, click the “Log In” button on the top right.

Note: You may instead see a WordPress login screen. If so, try the same instructions as below. After entering your password, you may need to type the URL www.writershuddle.com/forums into your browser’s address bar, in order to get back to the forums.

Step 3: The forum software (annoyingly!) does not accept your email address as your username. Instead, your username is in the format FirstnameLastname (with no space in the middle).

Here’s an example for a user called “Test User”:

Try the password you used at Step 1 first. If that doesn’t work, use the “Lost password?” link.

I recommend checking the “Remember me”, which should help prevent you being logged out of the forums in future.

Step #4: Once you’re back in, ensure that your main Writers’ Huddle password and forum password are exactly the same. You can set them here:

This should mean that, in future, you’ll automatically be logged into the forums whenever you enter Writers’ Huddle.

Whew!

Please feel very free to contact me if any of the above is too complicated and/or irritating to deal with, and I can reset both your passwords and test your account.

I can also look into any possible problems with your account that could be preventing you from logging in (e.g. if a payment hasn’t gone through correctly, though you’ll normally get an email alert about this).
